The Bombard Aerotec 380 is designed and manufactured by Zodiac and in our opinion they should really be considered as part of the Zodiac inflatable boat range. The Aerotec 380 has been very popular ever since Zodiac’s subsidiary Bombard first introduced this model in the late 1990’s. Bombard Aerotec 380’s are best sellers in this class and size of inflatable boat.
Product Page Title: Design
The Bombard Aerotec 380 is a fully inflatable boat with a solid transom, large tubes and an inflatable floor. The Bombard Aerotec 380 is 3.8m long. This makes it one of the largest “pure inflatable boats”. The beam is a narrow 1.72m, which gives these inflatable boats a good turn of speed and tight handling characteristics.
The Bombard Aerotec 380 is rated for Category C waters (inshore and inland). It can carry up to five persons.
The big difference with this inflatable boat is that of all inflatable boats made worldwide, only the Bombard Aerotec 380 has its unique deep-V shaped fully inflatable floor. The deep V shaped hull gives a much improved manoeuvrability and stability when compared with a conventional flat-bottomed inflatable boat.
The Bombard Aerotec 380 is an inflatable boat that thinks it's a mini-powerboat.
Tube material on the Bombard Aerotec 380 inflatable boat is a tough and durable PVC.
The only colour available on the Bombard Aerotec 380 is the red tubes, with black transom and white hull floor (all as shown in our photos). The top of the tubes has a neat grab rail system. Along the sides of the tubes is the black integral rubbing strake.
The Bombard Aerotec 380 is one large inflatable boat that can be stowed in a carry bag. One or two people can carry this bag. When folded up, the Bombard Aerotec 380 is extremely compact and it can be quickly inflated, ready for action.
In its bag the Aerotec 380 will fit into a small hatchback, or the boot of a family saloon car.
The Bombard Aerotec 380 will take an outboard engine rated at up to 25hp. The Bombard Aerotec 380 is normally used with a simple, tiller-steered outboard engine.
The Bombard Aerotec 380 with a 20hp engine is a very popular choice. This 20hp size of outboard engine is powerful enough to move the boat at speed, however this size of engine is still just light enough to be carried manually. Therefore this size of outboard engine tends to complement the Aerotec 380’s light weight and hence the overall portability of the Aerotec 380 with its outboard engine package.
There is an option on the Bombard Aerotec 380 to fit them with both remote steering and a remote throttle controlled engine. With this option, the Bombard Aerotec 380 can be fitted with a crossbar-mounted steering bar system at the front of the boat, thus allowing remote control of the engine. These Bombard Aerotec 380 boats with the remote steering kits are often permanently mounted on road trailers (as shown here). This option cannot be purchased on this website. If you would like a remote steering Aerotec 380 please contact us for details and a quote.
The Bombard Aerotec 380 with a tiller steered outboard engine can be left fully inflated and with the outboard engine still attached. Therefore the Bombard Aerotec 380 can be used with a simple road trailer. The Bombard Aerotec 380 inflatable boat can be launched from the road trailer on any suitable slipway or hard-standing.
A very popular optional accessory on the Bombard Aerotec 380 (by Zodiac) are the clip-on launch wheels. These allowing a much easier slipway or beach launch, even when a large outboard engine is already mounted on the boat’s transom.
