There are several models of the

So, for example, there are two short shaft (S) and three long shaft (L) versions of the older model Yamaha 25hp engine, the "D" prefix on the 25hp four-stroke. These were available up until 2017,
- F25 DMHS – Tiller handle, manual pull start, manual tilt, short shaft
- F25 DMHL - Tiller handle, manual pull start, manual tilt, long shaft
- F25 DES – Remote control, electric start, manual tilt, short shaft
- F25 DEL - Remote control, electric start, manual tilt, long shaft
- F25 DETL - Remote control, electric start, power trim and tilt, long shaft
The standard propeller is alloy. There are six optional choices of propeller size.

Yamaha High Trust Models

There is one additional variation on the Yamaha F25 engine, the Yamaha FT xx– the Yamaha High Trust models. This looks like the standard Yamaha outboard engine, however it has been modified to give better low range torque, altered gear ratios and a propeller to give more thrust at lower speeds, especially when turning a displacement craft. This Yamaha high trust engine is recommended for canal boats, motor cruisers and other displacement craft such as yachts.

For all leisure users, the Yamaha engine comes with a five year warranty. For all commercial users, the Yamaha outboard engine comes with a two year limited hours warranty.
There are terms and conditions for the Yamaha warranty. The engine needs to be serviced regularly by any Yamaha approved dealership, using genuine parts.
